Shots fired outside gym in busy Meridian shopping center

Meridian Police are searching for a suspect who fired several shots outside of the Mecca gym around 7:20 a.m. Thursday morning. The gym is in a busy shopping center at the intersection of Eagle Rd. and Ustick Rd. with several businesses blocked off while police investigate.

According to Meridian Police, people inside the Mecca gym noticed an individual outside who was “acting suspiciously”. Some gym goers confronted the man and police say the suspect then produced a baton and eventually a handgun before firing off several shots.
