This Sunday marks 35 years since hurricane Hugo slammed into the east coast. The category 4 hurricane made landfall at midnight near Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina on September 22nd, 1989. Hugo produced the highest storm surge ever recorded on the east coast which was 20 feet in Bulls Bay.
