Severe Thunderstorms Developing Across Parts of Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin

Heavy Showers & Thunderstorms May Also Impact Parts of Michigan & Illinois

Good evening everyone. In this morning’s article, we expressed concerns about a reemerging severe weather risk across parts of Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Unfortuntely those concerns are coming to fruition and we are already seeing some severe weather taking place.

Just west of La Crosse, Wisconsin on the Minnesota side of the border, heavy showers and thunderstorms have had a history of 60mph winds and penny size hail. We are also seeing similar thunderstorm activity in north central Iowa, to the south of Minneapolis, north of Duluth, and heading into Wisconsin itself.

For this reason, the National Weather Service has issed a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for this area until 10pm CDT on the most eastern area of the watch. Expect scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms becoming more organized, and capable of damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and a few tornadoes.
