The cast of HBO’s “Veep” and late-night host Stephen Colbert will hold a virtual table read event for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin later this month, a type of fundraiser that has brought in millions of dollars for the party in past election cycles.
The event will include stars of the political satire comedy series like Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tony Hale, Anna Chlumsky, Reid Scott and Timothy Simons. The show has drawn comparisons to Vice President Kamala Harris’ own ascent to becoming the Democratic presidential nominee, and viewership data shows a surge in people revisiting the series.
The cast will reunite for a table read of the episode “Crate,” in which fictional Vice President Selina Meyer finds out the president is stepping down and she will take his place.
The state Democratic party has held events with the “Veep” cast twice before, in 2020 and again in 2022 with “The West Wing” cast. The party’s virtual events became popular during the pandemic, including one with the cast of “The Princess Bride.”
