Suspect in camper chase identified: Mobile Police

UPDATE (9:04 p.m.): Mobile Police have identified the individual arrested on Thursday afternoon after a motorhome ran through a security gate.

36-year-old Dale Paulson was arrested and taken to Metro Jail Thursday.

According to an MPD spokesperson, officers were dispatched to a traffic accident around 4:44 p.m. Thursday near I-65 and I-10 involving a Coachman Camper and Buick Envision.

Paulson, who was driving the motorhome, initially pulled to the side of the road. However, he allegedly drove off when the driver of the Buick exited her vehicle.

Police said Paulson continued driving on I-10 Eastbound and exited toward Brookley Field. He struck another vehicle in the area.

Officers pursued Paulson, and the chase continued onto McDuffie Coal Terminal where he crashed through a security gate.

He attempted to turn around but lost control of his vehicle, crashing into a steel structure, which disabled the camper.
