Power Bill Assistance Available for Missouri Residents

BLUE SPRINGS, MO – Missouri residents struggling with high energy bills can seek help through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

According to the Missouri Department of Social Services, this federally funded program helps low-income households pay for heating or cooling costs, providing much-needed relief during extreme weather conditions.

LIHEAP offers two types of assistance. The first is a one-time payment to cover heating or cooling costs from October to May.

The second is the Energy Crisis Intervention Program (ECIP), which provides emergency aid when a household faces a utility disconnection or fuel shortage.

Winter ECIP runs from November to May, with a maximum benefit of $800, while Summer ECIP operates from June to September, offering up to $600, according to the Missouri Department of Social Services.

In addition to energy bill assistance, contracted agencies can provide emergency services such as blankets, window air conditioners, and heating or cooling system repairs.
