SJPD probes social post targeting middle school

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — The San Jose Police Department (SJPD) is investigating a report of a social media post that threatened Castillero Middle School.

SJPD told KRON4 News that it received the report at 8 a.m. on Thursday.

In a statement on the social platform X, SJPD Media Relations noted, “Recently, there has been a trend of threats against schools circulating on social media, both locally and nationally. SJPD has received multiple reports and is actively investigating these incidents. We are working closely with school officials to ensure that safety remains a top priority. Please remember to report any suspicious activity by calling 911, so we can quickly assess the validity of any threats.”

KRON4 News has reached out to the San Jose Unified School District for a comment but has not yet received a response.
