Local artists bringing awareness to waterway pollution with storm drain murals

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — For nine years, the City of Springfield has held a mural painting event in their city. This year, it’s on 67th Street and E Street. The event is the UpStream Art Mural Installation. In past years, the murals have been painted in Springfield’s downtown area or in north Springfield. The goal of the murals is to bring awareness to waterway pollution. Both stormwater and wastewater get deposited into the McKenzie and Willamette Rivers.
