Guilford Count investigators believe multiple people were involved in fatal shooting during attempted armored truck robbery

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office said investigators believe more than one person was involved in an attempted robbery and fatal shooting in Whitsett earlier this month.

In a statement released on Friday afternoon, the GCSO said, ‘We do believe others are involved, but we are not releasing names or the number of possible suspects.’”

The GCSO says that around 9:15 a.m. on Sept. 10 , deputies came to the parking lot of the Stoney Creek Village shopping center on 6307 Burlington Road in Whitsett after getting a report of an attempted robbery of a Brink’s truck.

While they were on the way to the scene, they were alerted that there had been a shooting. At the scene, deputies found 26-year-old Devonte Eugene Scott of Albemarle, dead from a gunshot wound.
