OKC police release man following deadly shooting

Police released a man pending further investigation after a deadly shooting Wednesday in south Oklahoma City.

Just before 4:30 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at a residence in the 1800 block of SW 18.

Arturo Martinez, 31, was found shot and killed inside the residence.

Martinez drove to the residence to settle a dispute he had with an occupant of the residence, according to police. During the dispute, Martinez pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the person’s head, police reported.

A third person who saw what was transpiring retrieved a gun and shot Martinez, according to police.

Investigators interviewed the shooter and released him pending further investigation.

The shooting death is considered the 66th homicide in Oklahoma City this year.
