5-vehicle crash on Interstate 83 in northern Maryland closes highway; fatalities reported

A five-vehicle crash on Interstate 83 in northern Maryland has shut down the highway on the northbound side, according to the Maryland Department of Transportation.

The crash is in the area of Exit 33 (York Road), the website shows.

WBAL-TV in Baltimore is reporting that two people have died, and others are injured.

Traffic is backing up on the highway as well as along York Road, traffic reports show.
