Pedestrian fatally struck by train in North Carolina

BUTNER, N.C. (WNCN) — A pedestrian died after being hit by a train in Granville County Wednesday afternoon.

According to Granville County Sheriff Robert Fountain, Butner Public Safety was notified at 5:50 p.m. about a train crash involving a pedestrian off West Lyon Station Road. Emergency personnel from Butner and Granville County responded and performed life-saving measures on the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to Fountain.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing. Fountain said more information will be released when it becomes available.
