Lubbock to honor community veterans at West Texas Salute to Veterans event

LUBBOCK, Texas — The City of Lubbock will host its 8th annual West Texas Salute to Veterans in November at the American Windmill Museum.

The event’s primary goal is to connect veterans and their families with resources that improve their quality of life. A press release stated, resources include VA disability claims, Pact-Act information, Vet Center, legal-aid, obtaining service records PTSD and many more.

The WTS will be an all-day event with a color guard presentation from the Lubbock Regional Honor Guard and the playing of the service songs.

Lubbock veteran offers free rides to early voting polls

The release said this year’s keynote speaker will be Dr. John Kelly who serves on the Texas Veterans Land Board as the Director of Texas State Veterans Cemeteries.

In addition to the veteran resources, WTS will include a JrROTC competition with 6 schools from the south plains competing, jumpers and games for kids. Lunch will also be provided.

The City of Lubbock encourages the veterans and their families to attend the event on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the American Windmill Museum, 1701 Canyon Lake Drive.
