Domestic disturbance turned SWAT standoff reported in Downtown Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Police have been called to a domestic disturbance turned SWAT standoff at an apartment complex in the 1900 block of West North Temple.

Police tell ABC4.com they got the call around 6:30 this evening. Crisis negotiators are also currently on the scene, currently speaking with the individual, who police say is known to them and has a history with them.

Police have not released the man’s name, they have only identified him as a 40-year-old male.

Police say the man went into a unit that was not his, but the person who dwells in that unit from a previous relationship. The man held a woman against her will in the unit.

The woman was able to escape but the man had access to weapons, which resulted in calling SWAT and crisis negotiation teams to the apartment complex. This isn’t the first time the man has had SWAT called on him. SWAT was called on the man a few weeks ago.
