SAN DIEGO — A 35-year-old man is in custody after robbing a liquor store in the Skyline neighborhood and leading San Diego police to a man with fatal gunshot wounds inside a home less than a mile away.
At 8:24 a.m., San Diego police officers were responding to a call of shots fired at 7900 Skyline Drive. When they got around that call, officers received an update that there was an armed robbery at a liquor store at 101 South Meadowbrook Drive, where the suspect fired a round, a lieutenant with SDPD’s homicide unit said.
Officers located a man matching the suspect at 8200 Skyline Drive when they arrived in the area. They attempted to contact the man, but he didn’t follow the commands to stop, and instead, he entered the backyard of a house. Officers then requested additional resources.
