Motorcyclist Fatally Injured in South Austin I-35 Crash During Annual Ride for the Fallen Event

A fatal motorcycle crash on Saturday morning has claimed the life of one person and led to the temporary closure of all northbound lanes of Interstate 35 in South Austin. The incident occurred just before 11 a.m. in the 9000 block of the I-35 service road, by the Brandt Road exit, as reported by KVUE.

According to Austin-Travis County EMS, they were called to the scene of the motorcycle crash near National Park Blvd. just before 11 a.m. CPR was initiated on an unconscious motorcyclist, unfortunately, the individual, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene after resuscitative efforts, CBS Austin reported. Another person involved in the collision was being evaluated for potential transport to a medical facility.

It has been revealed that the man who died was part of the annual Ride for the Fallen, an event coordinated by the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas (CLEAT). Participants embarked on a journey from Harley-Davidson in South Austin to the Peace Officers’ Memorial at the Texas Capitol. CLEAT expressed their condolences in a message stating, “The Peace Officers’ Memorial Foundation is saddened by the incident that occurred today during our 24th Annual Ride for the Fallen. We’ve been informed that one of the participants/riders was involved in a fatal collision on I-35. Our number one priority during this event is always safety, and to that end, local law enforcement agencies escort the ride from Harley-Davidson—South Austin to the Peace Officers’ Memorial Monument on the Capitol grounds. Our thoughts and prayers are with the rider’s family and those involved in the event.”…
