Columbus YMCA Pulls Plug On Garver Branch After 30 Years, Leaving Southeast Side Stunned

After roughly three decades as a community staple for southeast Franklin County, the Jerry L. Garver YMCA is headed for a permanent shutdown. The YMCA of Central Ohio says the branch’s final day of operations will be Friday, May 29, with ownership of the property expected to transfer on Saturday, May 30. The organization has agreed to sell the site to the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority and plans to keep many programs running through the spring while it scrambles to secure replacement space nearby.
