TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Two months into 2026, Tucson is seeing a major surge of people dying while crossing the street.
The Tucson Police Department reports that nine pedestrians have been killed this year, three times as many as the same time period in 2025.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department told 13 News it has had eight pedestrian collisions, four of which have been fatal, according to PCSD Traffic Supervisor Jesse Comeau.
“The Sheriff’s department has noticed our pedestrian-involved collisions have kind of increased this year,” Comeau said. “The efforts that we’re taking to hopefully mitigate this and try to save as many lives or just prevent as many serious collisions as possible.”…
