NORTH CAROLINA — A much-needed soaking rainfall is spreading across the state today as a low-pressure system tracks through, bringing on-and-off rain, cooler temperatures, and occasional heavier downpours.

Rain is overspreading much of North Carolina this morning and will continue expanding through midday and into the afternoon. Some showers could be heavy at times, especially during the more active periods of the system.

Rain Likely On and Off All Day

Forecasters indicate rainfall will be widespread statewide, with periods of steady rain mixed with heavier bursts. If it is not raining in your location early this morning, it is expected to arrive later in the morning or early afternoon.
