Contracted Chattanooga crossing guard arrested, raising questions about hiring process

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — We’re working to learn how a crossing guard at a charter school in Chattanooga was hired by a private company despite having warrants out for his arrest.

This comes after that crossing guard, Michael Moore, was arrested Wednesday morning after Hamilton County deputies found a loaded gun, drugs, and $3,000 in his vehicle right after he left his school post.

Thursday we learned that Moore was contracted through Global Protective Services to work as a crossing guard for Chattanooga Charter School of Excellence.

Around 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, an affidavit says Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Warrants Unit detectives and a school resource deputy followed up on a tip that a man directing school traffic had active warrants…
