The Walker County Animal Shelter is asking the community for help as it works to meet the daily needs of animals in its care. Shelter staff say several basic supplies are running low, and donations from the public are urgently needed.
At the top of the list are cardboard litter boxes, which the shelter says it uses by the dozens each week. Because of the high turnover, staff say they can never have too many on hand.
In addition, the shelter is requesting donations of paper lunch bags that are used for animal enrichment activities. The bags help staff create games and stimulation exercises that keep animals mentally engaged while they wait for adoption…
