Evansville firefighters rescue unconscious driver from burning vehicle

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Evansville firefighters rescued an unconscious driver from a burning car early Saturday morning following a collision near the intersection of North Garvin and East Illinois streets.

Crews were dispatched to the scene just after 3:15 a.m. for a reported vehicle extrication. Upon arrival, firefighters found a passenger vehicle that had struck a utility pole and come to rest underneath a semi-trailer. The vehicle was actively on fire.

Police officers on the scene managed to remove a passenger from the vehicle before fire crews arrived. However, the driver remained trapped in his seat and was unconscious…
