Third Albuquerque protest held to oppose U.S. military action in Iran

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It has been one week since the United States entered the war with Iran, and yet another protest rang out in Albuquerque. Dozens of people came to protest against the U.S. involvement in the war at Robinson Park in downtown Albuquerque. This is the third protest that has happened since the conflict started.

“To be here and to be around people who also care, not only in solidarity with our community but the Iranians, Palestinians, Cubans as well. The more people, the better,” said Abby Townsend, a protestor. Residents and several speakers from different groups, including the Party for Socialism and Liberation, voiced their opposition to the war.

Speeches lasted for more than an hour, then the crowd took to Central Avenue to continue the demonstration. People were chanting, calling for an end to violence, saying US money should not be funneled into weapons.
