9 displaced by apartment fire in Amherst

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Eight adults and one child were displaced by a fire at an apartment complex in Amherst Sunday morning, according to the Amherst Central Fire Alarm Office.

Multiple fire departments responded to the fire around 9 a.m. at 679 Skinnersville Rd. The fire caused $200,000 in damage to the apartment structure and another $200,000 in damage to the structure’s contents, officials said. There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire was “improper use of a heat gun/tool,” the Amherst Central Fire Alarm Office said.
