CONKLIN, Mich. (WOOD) — From Little Compton, Rhode Island, to Hot Springs, Arkansas, several communities claim to hold the “world’s shortest St. Patrick’s Day parade.”
One of those communities is right here in West Michigan. Conklin’s parade spans about 150 yards, starting at the corner of Main and Miller streets and ending at the Irish-themed Conklin Bar. The parade stepped off at 10:55 a.m. and took just a few minutes.
Year after year, the “plan” is to march the length of Main Street — just a few blocks. But, as organizers explain, the Conklin Bar is located perfectly in the middle of the parade route, and the marchers “invariably” veer off so they can enjoy a pint (or two)…
