‘Eye-opening and beautiful’: Local students spend spring break fixing up Mississippi home

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A group of students from Sacred Heart Academy in Grand Rapids chose to spend their spring break giving back.

The students traveled to help renovate and repair a woman’s home near Gulfport, Mississippi.

“I decided I’d give it a try and just jump in and I loved it,” Catherine Rogovich, a senior at the school, said. “It’s just a different sort of experience. I don’t know exactly what words to put it, but it’s really eye-opening and beautiful to connect with people your age and to have a common goal you’re all reaching.”
