BURLINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) — The City of Burlington Police Department is seeing success with cameras in its Automated License Plate Reader program.
The department added 30 Automated License Plate Reader cameras around the city in May 2025. The cameras are placed in high-crime and traffic areas, along with primary entry and exit points around the city.

The cameras capture still images of the backs of vehicles through the department’s Real Time Crime Center.
Trained department staff and investigators monitor hundreds of live camera feeds from the readers, city-owned cameras, business partnerships and partnering agencies in the center.
