Woman’s info stolen for ‘ghost employment’ fraud scheme, police say

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – An Evansville man is facing theft, fraud, and forgery charges after police say he stole a woman’s private information and made her a “ghost employee.”

The victim says she was denied government benefits because paperwork showed she had been paid more than $20,000 through Helping Hands Senior Living.

She says 47-year-old Kareem Strother approached her several months prior and asked her to work for the Helping Hands, but she never worked for them…
