Rockford Could Receive $132K Grant to Aid Homeless Seniors

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A half-of-a-quarter-million-dollar grant could soon make its way into the hands of Rockford, and it would all go towards unsheltered people over the age of 55.

“Not just in Rockford, but across the country, we’re really seeing a rise in homelessness for people over the age of 55,” shared homeless project manager of Rockford’s Health and Human Services DepartmentAngie Walker.

A count in January revealed the latest numbers. According to Walker, 260 people are facing homelessness in the city. 90 are unsheltered and nearly 20 are people over the age of 55…
