The Indianola City Council decided to cancel their public hearing for the South C Street Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project. The council only received one bid, with a price steeper than the city expected. Indianola City Manager Jake Meshke says the council may circle back to this issue in the near future.
“For that project, we had an engineer’s opinion of a probable cost of $486,000. We did only receive one bid on that project and it came in at $645,000. Ultimately, the bids were just a little bit higher than what we were expecting to see. As we evaluated that, we brought forward the recommendation to the council and accepted that we reject the bids at this time and bid that project again in the future when it may be a little bit more of a competitive environment……
