The Southwest Florida Water Management District has put a Modified Phase III Water Shortage Order in place from April 3 through July 1, 2026 to help conserve water in The Villages. This applies to homes and businesses in Sumter, Marion, and Lake counties.
Key rules:
- Irrigation: Once per week on your assigned day (based on your address). Water only 12:01–4 a.m. or 8–11:59 p.m.
- Hand watering: Allowed any day before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m.
- Car washing: Once per week on your watering day, using a hose with a shut-off nozzle.
- Decorative fountains: Up to 4 hours per day.
- Pressure washing: Only for necessary cleaning (like mold removal or prep for painting).
