PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. (WSAV) — A message on the Parris Island Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) is causing confusion and concern.
A previously displayed message on the Parris Island MCRD website stated that federal law enforcement personnel would be “present at installation access points to conduct enhanced screening and lawful immigration status inquiries.” This message later changed on Tuesday to state that only federal officials will be present, with no word on immigration status checks.
The original message stated federal immigration agents would be present outside the graduation event for new Marines to check whether any attending family members are undocumented.
