Escambia County Fire-Rescue units responded to a multi-residential structure fire around 4:49 a.m. Thursday at the 2300 block of West Michigan Avenue.

“Upon arrival at the two-story apartment complex, smoke was visible from one of the buildings,” an ECFR Facebook post said. “Firefighters located a fire in the attic and immediately began attacking the flames, eventually bringing the situation under control by 5:10 a.m.

“Although the flames did not extend into any apartment units, four units sustained water damage, displacing seven occupants. The occupants were assisted with new housing by property management.”

Investigators said an electrical issue is to blame.
