Metea County Park: Learn where to find salamanders

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Spring is bringing with it an abundance of wildlife. Birds chirp to greet the morning again and budding flowers will soon spill color onto Allen County.

But what about life underneath forgotten rocks and fallen trees?

“We’re going to be looking for salamanders out in the woods underneath all the logs,” said Syndey Schrock, Metea County Park Naturalist

Schrock is leading a salamander search on Saturday to show residents that not all wildlife wants to be seen. The nocturnal hunters love to hide under rocks, logs or anywhere damp during the day…
