Two Birmingham companies and one each from Mobile and Huntsville won a combined $301 million in Pentagon contracts in March, according to posted notices.
BL Harbert International LLC
For nearly $125 million, BL Harbert International LLC, Birmingham, Alabama, will build barracks for single enlisted troops at Fort Stewart, Georgia. The expected completion date is April 5, 2029.
Steward Machine Co. Inc.
A $14.6 million U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contract for Steward Machine Co. Inc., based in Birmingham, is to fabricate and deliver “Coffeeville Lock lower miter gates and spare parts for the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Project Office,” with July 19, 2029, as the estimated completion date.
Austal USA LLC
Mobile-based Austal USA LLC was awarded $126.5 million for additional ship building work.
“This contract is awarded with funding from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” the Pentagon said, “and directly supports the national effort to revitalize and rebuild American shipbuilding.”
Work is expected to be completed by May 2029.
