Man shot in attempted robbery in Des Moines has died, police say

DES MOINES, Iowa — Police say a man who was shot Thursday night on the north side of downtown Des Moines has died.

Sgt. Paul Parizek, Public Information Officer of the Des Moines Police Department, said officers and Des Moines Fire Department rescue personnel were called to 12th Street and Keo Way just before 9:00 p.m. to assist with someone who had been shot.

Competency hearing for man accused of murdering sister, nephew in Ames

Arriving crews found a 35-year-old man on the ground outside of a vehicle in the traveled area of Keo Way. Sgt. Parizek said lifesaving efforts began at the scene, and the man was transported to UnityPoint-Methodist Medical Center. He died from his injuries at the hospital.
