Federal report on Hotel Hampton fire expected by summer

The major Downtown Easton fire earlier this year has been under federal investigation since late February.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, under the Department of Health and Human Services, is examining whether or not the Easton Fire Department met National Fire Protection Association requirements during its response to the blaze. A final report is expected by early May, according to Easton fire chief Henry Hennings.

The investigation was prompted after Wilson firefighter Bobby Lewullis — son of Lafayette College’s assistant director of public safety — fell 20 feet from a ladder during the fire, sustaining severe injuries.
