Woman mistakenly paid $20K for 12-hour shift facing theft charge

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — A Jonesboro, Arkansas, woman has been charged with theft after police say she was mistakenly paid $1,650 an hour for a 12-hour shift and refused to give the money back.

The Jonesboro Police Department reported that the 50-year-old woman was meant to receive $16.50 an hour from Superior Senior Care. However, on May 10, 2025, she was accidentally overpaid, resulting in nearly $20,000 for just one day’s work.
