Alliance-area news in brief for April 13

EDUCATION STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP – The Rebecca Bricker Scholarship Committee and the Sebring-West Branch Area Community Foundation are accepting applications for the college scholarship. Bricker was a beloved, longtime kindergarten teacher with West Branch Local Schools. Candidates for the scholarship must be current college sophomores or juniors studying elementary education or a related field, such as art, music, physical education and reading specialist. Applicants must have a 2.2 college grade-point average. Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded, with preference being given to college students majoring K-4 education. Application forms and a list of required documents are available at westbranch.k12.oh.us. Applications and related materials can also be requested from [email protected]. Materials must be submitted by July 15.

QUAIL HOLLOW SALE – Quail Hollow Herbal Society plans its Spring Herb & Plant Sale in the Manor House at Quail Hollow Park, 13480 Congress Lake Road in Lake Township. Sale will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 2 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 3. The sale will include a wide variety of herbs, vegetables and plants, along with a variety of craft items. Those who are interested in learning more about herbs should contact [email protected] or ask at the sale.

SALEM SCHOOLS – Salem City Schools Board of Education plans a special meeting at 4 p.m. April 14 in the district’s administration office. Purpose of the meeting is for the board to recess into executive session to discuss employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion or compensation of an employee or official.
