Council To Seek $8 Million In Funding For Public Works Site

In a decision one city official called the “better of two evils,” Kirkwood is moving forward with securing $8 million needed to repair and upgrade the future home for its public works departments.

The move comes after a 4-2 vote of the Kirkwood City Council on Thursday, April 2.

At issue is the future of a multi-building property off of Leffingwell and Elliott avenues that was purchased by the city of Kirkwood in late 2023 for $12.5 million, paid for by borrowing in the form of Certificates of Participation (COPs) issued in 2024…
