Auburn man faces felony DWI, additional charges after altercation with deputies

An Auburn man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following a late-night traffic stop that escalated into a physical confrontation and additional damage at the sheriff’s office.

Michael J. Gatewood, 47, was arrested April 8 after deputies located his vehicle following a report of an unwanted guest who had left a scene and was believed to be driving intoxicated.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop after observing violations and determined Gatewood was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Authorities also found his license had been revoked due to a prior DWI conviction, leading to additional felony charges…
