Renters at 2 affordable housing complexes in Springfield ask judge to allow them to stay in their homes

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Renters at 2 Springfield affordable housing complexes want a judge to let them stay in their homes. It would be temporary while a court decides if they’ve been properly told to move out.

“I’m scared that I might be homeless,” said Shellastine Williams.

She, and many others living at the former Rosewood Estates and Cedarwood Terrace Apartments, may soon be out of a place to live. The units were sold. The previous owners opted out of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program a few years ago, effectively ending the discounted rent prices…
