FORISTELL, Mo. – Two incidents in less than two weeks involving dump trucks driving with raised beds have caused significant damage and raised new questions about safety measures designed to prevent such crashes.
The most recent incident occurred on Interstate 64 near Caseyville, Illinois, where a dump truck struck an overhead interstate sign, collapsing its support structure onto the interstate. The westbound lanes were closed for more than 12 hours while crews cleaned up.
