Court records reveal alleged confession as new details emerge in 1990 McBride murder case

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Documents filed in a North Carolina court Tuesday have shed new light on the investigation into the accused killer of Lisa Marie McBride, Robert “Bob” McCaffrey.

The most notable revelation disclosed after his Tuesday morning hearing includes the claim that McCaffrey confessed to murdering McBride because she would not go out with him. He made the admission five years after the crime occurred, according to court records.

McBride was murdered in 1990, and McCaffrey admitted to a known associate that he killed her five years later in 1995, according to a search warrant and criminal complaint obtained by News 4 carried out in Manteo, North Carolina on Friday, April 10.
