Fleet Week Houston ship tours: What you need to know

HOUSTON (CW39) – For the first time ever, the inaugural Fleet Week Houston is bringing massive military vessels and more than 1,000 active-duty servicemembers to the Houston Ship Channel.

If you’re heading out to see these ships between April 15-22, you’ll need to do more than just show up. Here is the “gold standard” guide to making sure you actually get on board.

What to Know

  • Dates: April 15–22, 2026
  • Registration: Same-day online sign-up is required the morning of the tour; no walk-ups
  • ID Required: Valid government-issued photo ID is mandatory for all adults
  • Security: Visitors must wear pants and closed-toe shoes to board
  • Departure: Shuttle buses depart from POST Houston (401 Franklin St)

Which ships are in Houston?

This historic event features three major U.S. Navy vessels and a U.S. Coast Guard cutter docked at the Port of Houston:

  • USS Kearsarge (LHD-3): A Wasp-class amphibious assault ship
  • USS Minneapolis-St. Paul (LCS-21): A high-speed littoral combat ship
  • USS Cooperstown (LCS-23): Advanced coastal mission vessels
  • USCGC Edgar Culbertson (WPC-1137): A Coast Guard fast response cutter
