Texas’ favorite grocery store is targeting another part of Houston. H-E-B is in the process of securing a land acquisition deal in the city’s East End district.
The San Antonio supermarket chain is under contract for a 6-acre parcel at Delano, Canal, Commerce and Live Oak streets, Houston Business Journal first reported. Lisa Helfman, managing director of public affairs for H-E-B Houston, confirmed the news to Chron, adding the grocer is working through the due diligence process.
“We continue to look for growth opportunities throughout the Houston area; however, we do not have any current plans for this site,” Helfman said.According to public documents filed with the Houston Planning Commission, the grocery giant wants to consolidate a 6.056-acre tract into one single cohesive block or “one unrestricted reserve” for its “HEB East End” project.
