Cardamom, chef Daniel del Prado’s restaurant inside the Walker Art Center, recently laid off its front-of-house workers as it rolls out a counter-service model using QR codes, according to news reports.
MPR News reports that some former employees and workers’ rights advocates believe the layoffs, which impacted 16 hosts and servers, were a retaliatory move by DDP Restaurant Group in response to workers seeking safety plans and other supports during Operation Metro Surge.
