Electrical junction box blamed for $10K fire at abandoned Kalihi building

HONOLULU (Island News) – A fire at a two-story Kalihi building was deemed accidental by an investigator with the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD).

HFD responded to a building fire that was reported at the intersection of Naio St. and Houghtailing St. in Kalihi on Monday morning at approximately 10:11 a.m.

Firefighters arrived at the scene at 10:16 a.m. and found a two-story residential building with light smoke coming from the second floor of the structure. The fire was brought under control and fully extinguished at 10:33 a.m…
