Caregivers plea to county leaders to save adult day program for Alzheimer’s patients

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Emotional speakers begged the Kern County Board of Supervisors to step up funding for the adult day program at the Alzheimer’s Disease Association of Kern County. The day program is scheduled to close next month due to lack of funding, and many family members of Alzheimer’s patients are heartbroken over the impending loss of this program.“My husband, Bill Miller, had Alzheimer’s and passed away 8 months ago,” said Elinda Elieff.

“My husband Doug was diagnosed about 10 years ago when he was 69. The progression has been slow, but it is devastating, challenging, for not just Doug, but the family,” said Martha Miller.
