Buffalo, N.Y., Will Digitally Map Streets, to Guide Repairs

(TNS) — Mayor Sean Ryan says the city will be partnering with a technology firm to digitally map public infrastructure to identify the roads and sidewalks most in need of repair in future years.

In announcing this year’s paving list, Ryan said the city will partner with CYVL, a company that has software that creates a three-dimensional digital map of all city roads and sidewalks, with the power to show the depth of an individual pothole.

“We’ll be able to make sure we’re putting our efforts on where things are the worst,” Ryan said at a Monday press conference. “Then we’ll be able to proactively see which roads are failing, where sidewalks are unsafe and where we’re falling short on accessibility.”…
